Three things should be kept in mind when cooking with ceramics: the pot should never be exposed to temperature shocks (e.g. never put boiling water into the cold pot!) and before use it should be watered for at least half an hour. As long as it's sitting on the embers, it should be half, besser three quarters full to avoid fractures caused by different temperatures within the material.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to fry in a ceramic pot, but every stew made on a campfire has so far been delicious. The morning's coffee (made of roasted acorns, of course!) always is tasty, too, and stays warm during the whole day when kept on some embers.
